“Everything I did, I did for the Rebellion.” – Cassian Andor

This week Disney+ announced it would premiere multiple new Star Wars series, movies; that’s in addition to a new season of The Mandalorian, which has now tallied more than 1 billion minutes of streaming. No matter your mood or what you tend to enjoy, there’s going to be at least one upcoming Star Wars series that’ll get you hooked. One of the least talked-about new series on its way is Star Wars: Andor, set to debut on Disney+ in 2022. The 12-episode series will be set five years before the events of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The Star Wars spy thriller Andor will star Diego Luna, reprising his character of rebel spy Cassian Andor. Along with Andor, the series focuses on fan-favorite droid K-2SO and a slew of other characters from a galaxy far, far away. Thanks to the online Disney Investors Day presentation on Thursday, fans got a first look via a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel. The reel didn’t show any new footage yet, because filming just began last week in London. However, it did reveal BTS footage, interviews with the cast and creative team, concept art, stunt rehearsals, sets, costumes, and creature prosthetics. It defiantly was a treat for fans who have waited for something more concrete since the Lucasfilm series was announced.

Luna said in the sizzle reel, “I’m really excited having the chance to explore Cassian, it’s really fun to go on a set that is emulating something you like so much,”

Now fans may have a better sense of what the series will be about. We can only hope that it follows the magic of Gareth Edwards Rogue One. That film made you feel that its story took place in the Star Wars universe, something the sequel trilogy failed to do. The way it was shot, and the worldbuilding is by far the best aspects of the movie. The spinoff had plenty of life and created excitement for Star Wars’ huge modern resurgence.
